Turkey imported over $3.3 billion worth of products from Russia in April, according to statistics from the Turkish Ministry of Trade, as reported by the ministry's head, Omer Bolat.
Based on his data, China secured the top position in Turkey's product imports with $3.753 billion, followed by Russia at $3.33 billion, and Germany at $2.244 billion. Meanwhile, the primary contributors to Turkey's exports in April were Germany with $1.481 billion, the United States with $1.185 billion, and the United Kingdom with $1.124 billion.
Bolat revealed these figures during a meeting of the Assembly of Exporters of the Republic, stating that Turkey's exports in April reached the second-highest level ever, totaling $19.3 billion, a marginal increase of 0.1 percent compared to the same period last year. Imports, on the other hand, experienced a 4.2 percent rise to reach $29.1 billion.
Overall, Turkey's exports for January-April of this year amounted to $82.873 billion, marking a 2.7 percent increase compared to the corresponding period in 2023. In contrast, imports decreased by 8.9 percent, totaling $113.117 billion. As a result, the foreign trade deficit for the beginning of 2024 decreased by 4.3 percent year-on-year, reaching $195.990 billion.
