Iran Intends to Build Large Hydraulic Structures in Central Asia

04 July

Iranian companies plan to undertake significant hydraulic construction projects in Central Asia, including Kazakhstan. This announcement came from the press service of Kazakhstan's Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation following a meeting between the head of the agency, Nurzhan Nurzhigitov, and Iran's Minister of Energy, Ali Akbar Mehrabian.

"Ali Akbar Mehrabian stated that Iranian companies aim to implement large-scale projects in Central Asia, particularly in Kazakhstan, to build hydraulic structures akin to the Bakhtiari Dam, one of the world's largest," the report said.

Additionally, the Kazakhstan press service noted that Mehrabian expressed Iran's readiness to provide Kazakhstan with modern technologies for the transportation of irrigation water.

Nurzhigitov highlighted the necessity of such projects for the southern regions of Kazakhstan, specifically the Zhambyl, Kyzylorda, and Turkestan regions, and invited Iranian companies to the republic for further negotiations, according to the ministry's statement.
