Kazakhstan to take part in SPIEF-2022

The delegation of Kazakhstan will take an active part in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) in 2022 and will sign several strategically important agreements with Russia, Yermek Kosherbayev, Kazakhstan's Ambassador to Russia, said at a meeting in Moscow with Anton Kobyakov, Advisor to the Russian President.


"Russia is our strategic partner, the trade turnover between Russia and Kazakhstan last year amounted to $24 billion, a record figure for us. The delegation of Kazakhstan plans to take an active part in SPIEF-2022 on the margins of which a number of strategically important agreements between the representatives of our countries will be signed," the press service of Roscongress quoted the ambassador as saying on Monday.


According to the head of the Kazakh diplomatic mission, work is currently underway to open a consulate of Kazakhstan in Vladivostok. "Perhaps by the time of the Eastern Economic Forum our representative office will be working in the Far East, - he added. - "We have also resumed consideration of opening a consulate in Yekaterinburg, whose work will give a new impetus to the development of industrial cooperation".


In turn, Kobyakov said that Russia is interested "in the development and strengthening of relations within the framework of the Eurasian space". "Participants of the business communities of Russia and Kazakhstan show mutual interest in cooperation in a number of economic, trade and cultural areas. Representatives of Kazakhstan's small and large businesses traditionally take an active part in business forums, including the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum," he continued. - "This year, within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum a new direction will be introduced - agrofoodtech - and this is one of the directions in which our countries should develop cooperation".


According to the press service of Roscongress, within the meeting, the parties considered the participation of the Kazakh delegation at the highest level in SPIEF, as well as the organization of a session within the forum's business program with the participation of business representatives of both countries. They have mentioned questions of development and intensification of dialogues on the economy, finance and agriculture, placement of the companies from Kazakhstan at St.-Petersburg currency exchange, and also the development of joint investment projects. Several cultural events are planned, including the Days of Kazakhstan in Russia.


SPIEF will be held on June 15-18, 2022.
