Kazakhstan’s Prime Minister Meets with Rosatom CEO to Discuss Nuclear Energy Cooperation

Kazakhstan's Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov held a meeting with Alexey Likhachev, Director General of the Russian state corporation Rosatom, to discuss cooperation in the nuclear energy sector, according to a statement from the Kazakh government’s press office.

 

During the talks, the focus was on advancing “quantum technologies, digitalization, and the exchange of expertise and technologies, along with the development of human resources.” The meeting addressed current issues surrounding these technological areas and emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts among experts from various countries to drive progress in these sectors.

 

On October 6, Kazakhstan held a referendum on constructing a nuclear power plant, with the majority of voters supporting the project. Previously, the Kazakh government mentioned Rosatom as a potential supplier for nuclear technology.
