Lavrov hopes that in 2022 the integration processes in the EAEU will reach a new level

05 March 2022

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov believes that 2022 will bring the integration processes in the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) to a new level.

Speaking at a press conference following talks with the head of the Foreign Ministry of Kyrgyzstan, Ruslan Kazakbaev, the minister noted that this year Bishkek is chairing the EEU.

"We expressed today our support for the priorities that were outlined in President [Sadyr] Zhaparov's recent address on the occasion of assuming the presidency. We believe that this year will move the integration processes within the Eurasian Economic Union to a new level," he said.

Lavrov reminded that both countries have intergovernmental commissions for the development of economic cooperation. "We have stated that the basis of our bilateral interaction remains the agreements reached by our presidents in the development of interstate agreements and treaties, which determine the key areas of our cooperation for years to come," the minister added.

Lavrov called the talks with Kazakbaev "friendly and trusting," noting that Moscow also welcomes active parliamentary ties between the countries.

"We talked about our interaction in other areas, including the military-technical sphere, the sphere of cooperation between emergency ministries, and, of course, we mentioned the lively interest of our citizens in cultural, humanitarian and educational interaction," Lavrov concluded.
