Lavrov: Russia and UAE agree to cooperate on Expo in Dubai

Moscow and Abu Dhabi have agreed to cooperate on the World Expo 2020 in Dubai, which was postponed until 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Tuesday at a joint press conference with UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.


"We also noted the benefit that accompanies the participation of Russian delegations in events in the United Arab Emirates. In particular, international exhibitions of arms and food were recently held here. We agreed to cooperate on the organization of EXPO worldwide universal exhibition in Dubai this autumn including holding the Day of Russia in the framework of this forum,"  the head of the RF Foreign Ministry noted.


EXPO is a major international exhibition with the participation of more than 170 countries, which every five years demonstrate the achievements in science, technology, architecture, and art. Expo 2020 will take place in Dubai from October 1, 2021, through March 31, 2022. The holding of the world exhibition was previously scheduled for the period from October 20, 2020, to April 10, 2021.
