Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's visit to the Russian Federation will definitely take place, but its timing depends on the sanitary and epidemic situation. This was stated on Monday by the press secretary of the president of the republic, Sherzod Asadov.
"Preparations for the visit of the head of Uzbekistan to Russia are actively continuing, as evidenced by the recent visit to Moscow of Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, as well as visits to Uzbekistan of several delegations headed by members of the government and heads of Russian regions. As I said earlier, the date of President Mirziyoyev's visit depends on the sanitary and epidemiological situation," he said.
Mirziyoyev's official visit to Moscow scheduled for last spring was postponed indefinitely because of the coronavirus pandemic. During this visit, it is planned to sign a number of agreements on joint implementation of major infrastructure projects. In particular, it is planned to sign an agreement to begin construction of Central Asia's first nuclear power plant in the Jizzakh region of the country. In accordance with the intergovernmental agreement signed in 2018, Rosatom State Corporation is expected to build a complex of two "three plus" generation power units with VVER-1200 reactor units. During the visit, the official opening of the Uzbekistan pavilion at VDNH in Moscow is also planned, which will mark the return of the republic to this major Russian exhibition.
