Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin called the production of the Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine at a plant in Karaganda a serious job, according to him, Russia is satisfied with cooperation with Kazakhstan in the fight against the coronavirus.
"The fact that Sputnik V is produced today at the Karaganda pharmaceutical plant and the fact that everything is open is, of course, a very serious work of our people, those people who were involved in this project. More than 5 million doses [of the vaccine] have been produced. I know that we are very satisfied with this work and we always stand side by side, shoulder to shoulder with our Kazakhstani brothers," Mishustin said at a meeting with Nursultan Nazarbayev, the first president of Kazakhstan.
He said everything is being done to control the spread of the coronavirus infection.
Cooperation in the economy
Mishustin flew to Kazakhstan on August 18. In a meeting with Nazarbayev, he said there were a number of constructive meetings and active discussions of the bilateral agenda. "I would like to say that our trade turnover has risen by 34% in six months. Moreover, we have exceeded, most importantly, the pre-pandemic level. We state already, by 20%. We want to reach more than $20 billion by the end of the year in mutual trade. It seems that in this sense there are all preconditions for active work," said the head of the cabinet of ministers.
According to Mishustin, they also discussed cooperation in the industrial sphere and digitalization. The prime minister of Russia visited the control center of the office of the digital government of Kazakhstan and highly appreciated its work. "I was struck by the speed with which colleagues are implementing state-of-the-art solutions," he said.
Mishustin thanked Nazarbayev for the warm welcome of the Russian delegation and conveyed "the kindest words and warmest wishes" from Russian President Vladimir Putin. He stressed that Russia cherishes "fraternal, good-neighborly relations" with Kazakhstan and will support further cooperation in every possible way.
