More than 30 million foreign tourists visited Turkey in 2021, 4.69 million of them came from Russia. These figures were given by the Ministry of culture and tourism of Turkey on Monday to TASS according to the results of the past year.
"In 2021, 30 million 38 thousand 961 foreign tourists visited Turkey, an increase of 88.08% compared to 2020. During the period from January to December, the most tourists came from Russia - 4 million 694 thousand 422 people. The second and third places are followed by Germany (3.085 million) and Ukraine (2.060 million), " the Turkish ministry reported.
The Ministry added that in 2021 Turkey's income from tourism amounted to $24 billion 482 million 332 thousand "This figure rose by 103.02% compared to 2020," the ministry said.
The Sozdju newspaper notes that the tourist season in Turkey last year was saved thanks to tourists from Russia because of the significant increase in tourist traffic. In 2020 the republic was visited by just over 2 million Russians.
