Russia and Egypt discussed the use of the Russian coronavirus vaccine "Sputnik V", according to a report from the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation following the visit of Deputy Minister Vasily Osmakov to Egypt.
"In the course of negotiations with Egyptian partners, we discussed the pace of development of bilateral trade cooperation, the progress of the agreement on free trade between the EEU and the Arab Republic of Egypt, ongoing joint projects, simplification of access of Russian companies to the Egyptian market, the use of the Russian coronavirus vaccine "Sputnik V" in Egypt, preparations for the XIII meeting of the joint Russian-Egyptian commission on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation in Moscow this year," the report says.
Earlier it was reported that the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and one of the leading pharmaceutical groups in Egypt Pharco have agreed to supply the country with 25 million doses of the coronavirus vaccine "Sputnik V". The parties are also considering localization of production in Egypt.
Over 50 countries of the Middle East, Asia, Latin America, Europe and CIS have sent applications for the vaccine "Sputnik V". Previously the RDIF announced agreements with partners in Mexico to supply 32 million doses, in Brazil - up to 50 million doses, in India - 100 million doses, as well as in Uzbekistan - up to 35 million doses and in Nepal - 25 million doses.
