Russia and Iran are currently working on a wide range of trade and economic cooperation issues. It has become even more active and substantial in 2020, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said following a meeting with Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh.
"A wide range of issues of trade and economic cooperation between our countries is also being successfully worked out. Despite the fact that this year has been a difficult experience for the entire world community, economic relations between Russia and Iran not only have not lost their previous momentum but have become even more active and meaningful," the Deputy Prime Minister said.
Novak discussed with the Iranian side key issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the oil sphere. Russian-Iranian relations in the field of energy are currently developing successfully, he added.
During the meeting, Alexander Novak also introduced Russian Energy Minister Nikolai Shulginov to Zanganeh as a co-chairman of the intergovernmental commission with Iran on trade and economic cooperation from the Russian side.
Earlier, Iranian Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh said he planned to meet with the heads of Russian oil companies during his visit to Moscow.
Russian oil companies, in particular Rosneft, Lukoil, Gazprom Neft and Zarubezhneft, were interested in projects in Iran before the US sanctions were imposed.
