Deputy prime minister Alexey Overchuk has discussed topical issues of trade and economic cooperation with the deputy prime minister - minister of investment and foreign trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov. This was reported on the website of the cabinet of ministers on Thursday.
"The sides discussed topical issues of trade and economic relations, noting the positive dynamics of cooperation development," the statement said.
Overchuk and Umurzakov also touched upon cooperation in transport and logistics, paying special attention to the work carried out within the framework of the implementation of the memorandum of understanding between the cabinets of the two countries on the development and support of the Russia-Uzbekistan logistics corridor project, and the progress of the Agroexpress transport and logistics project. They confirmed the readiness to continue the constructive dialogue in all directions of cooperation between the countries, as the cabinet of ministers noted.
According to Overchuk, cited in the report, there is currently a growth of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. "In the eight months of 2021, trade turnover between Russia and Uzbekistan increased by 6.6% compared to the same period in 2020 and amounted to $3.89 billion," the Russian deputy prime minister said.
