The topic of Ukrainian grain will be on the top of the agenda during Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov's contacts in Turkey, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Friday.

The Kremlin spokesman's attention was drawn to media reports that Turkey, Russia, Ukraine and the United Nations are planning to hold meetings in Istanbul in the coming days to discuss a road map for the departure of ships carrying Ukrainian grain. Peskov was asked if such a meeting was really being prepared and who would represent Russia at it.

"Next week, indeed, our foreign minister will be in Turkey, he has contacts planned there. And, of course, the topic of Ukrainian grain will be high on the agenda in the continuation of the telephone conversation at the highest level," Peskov replied.

On Thursday, the Anatolian News Agency, citing diplomatic sources, reported that Russia, Turkey, Ukraine and the UN have prepared a road map that would ensure the operation of a safe corridor for the export of agricultural products from Ukrainian ports. According to it, Turkey has been holding diplomatic contacts for some time to form a mechanism to ensure safe delivery of grain from Ukraine to the world markets.

Russian Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya said that Russia was ready to discuss the issue of ensuring the export of Ukrainian grain, Ukraine should clear its blocked ports and coastal waters. According to the Russian permanent representative, Ukraine not only planted mines, but also sank ships allegedly for security purposes.
