Rostourism expects that by the end of 2022 the Mir card will be accepted in major countries popular to Russians for recreation, the head of the agency, Zarina Doguzova, told TASS.
"One of the key directions of Rostourism's work on the international track is to promote the expansion of the use of the Mir card abroad, so that our tourists could make payments by Russian cards. In this matter we are actively working with our foreign partners. We expect that by the end of this year the Mir card will be accepted in major popular Russian holiday destinations", said Doguzova.
The head of the department also said that recently she had a conversation with the Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey Mehmet Nuri Ersoy. He confirmed that Russian tourists can easily pay by card Mir almost in all hotels in Turkey. Already today a large part of the country's infrastructure accepts Mir cards. At the same time tourists are recommended to carry cash in case of necessity, she added.
Earlier, Deputy General Director of "Tez Tour Egypt" Tamer Said said that Egyptian authorities are working on the possibility of using cards of Mir Russian payment system in the country, this issue may be resolved by the end of this year.
