Pakistan's Ambassador to Russia, Muhammad Khalid Jamali, announced that Moscow will soon host a meeting of the Russia-Pakistan Intergovernmental Commission, signaling a push to deepen bilateral economic cooperation.
"We will soon have a meeting of the intergovernmental commission in Moscow," Jamali told reporters, adding that Russia has also been invited to participate in a food exhibition in Karachi.
Emphasizing Pakistan's desire to expand economic ties, particularly in the energy sector, Jamali stated, "We believe that Russia is the country that can fill the energy deficit in Pakistan." He highlighted the current trade volume between the two countries, approximately $1 billion, as a starting point for further growth.
This announcement follows a recent meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Pakistani counterpart, Ishaq Dar, where both sides acknowledged the need to intensify the work of the intergovernmental commission in bolstering economic cooperation.
