Russian-Arab Forum Backs Economic Cooperation Between Arab League and Russia

The Russian-Arab Forum in Marrakech has expressed its support for the expansion of economic cooperation between the member countries of the Arab League and Russia, as outlined in its joint final statement.

 

"The forum participants endorse the expansion of economic cooperation between the Arab League member countries and the Russian Federation," states the document. They deem it crucial to "enhance bilateral trade and encourage mutually beneficial collaboration in various sectors, including industry, agriculture, food security, water resources, banking and finance, the oil and gas sector, renewable and clean energy, and the peaceful use of nuclear energy." Additionally, the statement highlights the significance of cooperation in "transportation, tourism, communications, and intellectual property rights."

 

The statement particularly underscores the importance of fostering cooperation in agriculture between the members of the Arab League and the Russian Federation. It calls upon representatives from authorities and business circles to "support and strengthen cooperation in this domain through the organization of seminars involving experts from both sides." The participants of the forum have also agreed to "adopt a joint action plan for 2024-2026 between Russia and the Arab League" and "urge both parties to execute the outlined activities, instructing a joint committee of senior officials to provide periodic reports to assess progress."

 

On December 20, the sixth session of the Russian-Arab Cooperation Forum (RACF) at the ministerial level took place in Marrakech, Kingdom of Morocco. The VI session of the RACF saw the participation of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and the heads of foreign ministries from Morocco, Palestine, Yemen, Bahrain, Sudan, Lebanon, Mauritania, and Egypt.
