Russian tourist flow to Turkey more than doubled in a year

Tourist flow from Russia to Turkey in January 2023 more than doubled compared to the same period last year - up to 279.82 thousand visits, the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) said with reference to the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism.


So, following the results of the first month of 2023, 2.006 million visits of foreigners to Turkey were recorded. First place in tourist flow to Turkey in January was taken by Russia - 279.82 thousand arrivals (19.95% of the total foreign tourist flow), the second - by Bulgaria (167.14 thousand, 8.33%), the third - by Germany (139.96 thousand, 6.98%).


"Dynamics of Russian tourist flow to Turkey at the beginning of the year is clearly positive. So, in January 2023 the number of visits of Russians to this country more than doubled - annual growth of 108.5%", ATOR reports.


In January 2023 Russians often visited Istanbul - Russian tourist flow there increased by 2.1 times, to 182 thousand visits. The share of Istanbul in the total structure of tourist flow from Russia to Turkey was 65%. Share of resorts of Antalya amounted to 25.6%, demand for vacation there from Russian tourists in January increased by 66% - to 71.8 thousand visits.


Demand for holidays in Izmir by Russians in the year grew by almost 9 times - up to 1.3 thousand visits. In January 454 Russians arrived at the resorts of the province of Mugla, which is more than twice as much as during the same period in 2022.
