Tajikistan Receives 1.2 Thousand Tons of Flour from Russia for School Meals

26 August

Russia has delivered over 1.2 thousand tons of vitamin-enriched flour to Tajikistan's Sughd region to support the organization of school meals, the Russian Consulate General in Khujand, the administrative center of the region, reported.

The flour will be distributed to schools across the Sughd region, Tajikistan's most populous area, home to approximately 2.8 million people. The handover ceremony was attended by Russian Consul General Sergei Lankin.

This contribution is part of the School Feeding Program, the largest project of the UN World Food Program in Tajikistan, which has been funded by the Russian government since 2013. Under this program, Russia provides food supplies to Tajikistan, along with initiatives to modernize school canteens, supply modern equipment, and build greenhouses for growing fruits and vegetables.

Currently, the program benefits about 2,000 schools across the republic, ensuring that approximately 450,000 schoolchildren receive full hot meals.
