Tatarstan authorities plan to increase food exports by 7% in 2021

The authorities of Tatarstan expect to increase the volume of food exports by 7% in 2021 by increasing the rate of Halal production, First Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food of Tatarstan Nail Zalakov said on Wednesday at the session "Halal industry: experience and prospects" within the framework of the summit "Russia - Islamic world: KazanSummit 2021".


"According to the results of 2020, we exported food products for $300 million. We are at the very beginning of the way, we will increase these numbers. In 2020 we will start paying attention to export of Halal products as we have many partners in the Middle East and Arab countries," he said.


As it was specified in the regional Ministry of Agriculture, by the end of 2021 it is planned to export $320 million worth of food products, which will be increased at the expense of halal products. This year's sales are expected to reach $5 million, which is about three times higher than last year.


At present, products from Tatarstan are exported to 70 countries of the world. "Halal" goes to Uzbekistan, Mongolia, China, Azerbaijan, Germany, the USA, Kazakhstan and Belarus. Negotiations with the countries of the Persian Gulf are currently underway. At the same time, more than 70 enterprises of Tatarstan are certified to produce halal products, mainly confectionery, meat and dairy products.


The 12th International Economic Summit "Russia-Islamic World: KazanSummit 2021" will continue until July 30th. Representatives of 48 countries and 25 regions of Russia will take part in the work. The summit aims to develop cooperation and maintain a dialogue between Russia and the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in the economic, political and cultural spheres.
