Russian-Kazakh relations are developing especially dynamically this year, the trade turnover may reach a record figure of $23 billion, Russian Ambassador to Kazakhstan Alexei Borodavkin said in an interview with Khabar 24 TV channel.
"Our trade turnover, judging by all appearances, will be record-breaking and will reach $23 billion. This is a very significant amount," he said. "With Russia you [Kazakhstan] are not only neighbors, we are allies, integration partners. Our ties, which were forced to slow down in 2020 because of the pandemic, are developing especially dynamically this year - both political dialogue and security issues, economic ties, science, culture, education and so on," the ambassador said.
According to him, the two countries are cooperating very successfully in international organizations, primarily in the EAEC, CSTO, CIS, SCO, as well as within the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia.
The diplomat also recalled that since the beginning of the pandemic, Russia and Kazakhstan have worked closely together and achieved good results. "First of all, this is due to the fact that Kazakhstan is mainly vaccinated with the Russian vaccine Sputnik V, and Karaganda has deployed the production of this vaccine," Borodavkin pointed out.
He said that cooperation in this area will continue. "In particular, making sure that those who are vaccinated are recognized as such in both Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation. Ultimately, we seek to ensure that those vaccinated with the Russian vaccine Kazakhs could receive QR codes according to the Russian methodology, and in Kazakhstan we could get green status by the standards of the Republic," the ambassador explained.
