Tours in Egypt fell by up to 50% after the launch of charters

15 November 2021

Tours to Egypt after the launch of charter flights have dropped by up to 50%, executive director of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) Maya Lomidze told TASS.

"Thanks to the charters since November 9, the cost of tours on the destination for low and upcoming dates has decreased by 30-40%. According to estimates of tour operators, on some dates tours to Egypt are now 50% cheaper than in September this year, " said Lomidze.

Russia resumed charter flights with Egyptian resorts Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh on November 9. Now Egypt takes first place among foreign destinations by volume of sales for the next dates and December. It is followed by Turkey, Dominican Republic, Cuba and the UAE. Demand for holidays in Egypt is stably high. However, the main problem of this destination for the winter season is a shortage of accommodation, the number of which does not match the volume of claimed transportation, said the expert.

According to her, at the moment there is a deficit of places in hotels for November tours. Because of the high demand for the New Year's holidays, the most popular hotels are already running out of places. The depth of sales in the Egyptian direction is about two to three weeks, but there are already requests for arrivals up to March. A large number of tours are purchased a week before departure. The most popular duration of tours to Egypt is seven nights, she added.
