Turkey Secures US Exemption for Gazprombank Sanctions

20 December

Turkey has received an exemption from the United States allowing it to use Gazprombank for payments for Russian gas, according to Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar, as reported by NTV.

"Turkey has secured an exemption from the US for or Gazprombank in transactions related to payments for Russian gas. We will continue to process gas payments through Gazprombank," Bayraktar stated.

In late November, the US imposed sanctions on Gazprombank, which handles foreign payments for Russian gas and oil. Following these sanctions, Turkey expressed concerns over the negative impact on its energy transactions and requested the US to grant an exception for Gazprombank in payments for Russian gas.
