Turkey can become a transit point for Russian gas supplies to European markets, Deputy Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar said Thursday during a speech at the Baku Energy Forum.

The Baku Energy Forum is taking place these days in Baku. The event is dedicated to global energy perspectives, financing of transition to green energy, gas supply issues, map of exploration and production opportunities in the Caspian region and a number of other topical issues. More than 400 delegates from 20 countries participate in this year's Baku Energy Forum.

"Turkey wants to engage the entire infrastructure for domestic production in the context of domestic consumption and transportation of gas to foreign markets, including European markets, for existing suppliers through the pipelines of Azerbaijan, Russia and Iran," Bayraktar said.

According to him, Ankara can also help transit resources from Turkmenistan, Iraq and the Mediterranean.
