Moscow and Washington do not currently support dialogue on Syria, Alexander Lavrentiev, the Russian President's Special Representative for the Syrian settlement, told TASS.
"By no means do we not support dialogue on Syria, but the deconfliction mechanism between Russia and the US in Syria is in place. Contacts are maintained, but only along the lines of this mechanism between the commander of our grouping in Syria and the command of the so-called international coalition," Lavrentiev responded to a related question.
Earlier, Lavrentiev had mentioned that Russia could resume dialogue with the United States on Syria if Washington shows the appropriate willingness. He also noted that all contacts between the two countries had been suspended at the US's initiative.
