Lavrov Briefs Arab Ambassadors on Russia's Efforts for Gaza Ceasefire

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov addressed the Palestinian-Israeli conflict during a meeting with the heads of diplomatic missions from Arab states in Moscow, along with a representative from the Arab League. The Russian Foreign Ministry reported that during the meeting, the foreign minister outlined Moscow's efforts to halt the violence in the Gaza Strip.

 

"During his address, Sergey Lavrov reaffirmed Russia's steadfast support for an immediate ceasefire, the safeguarding of civilian lives, adherence to international humanitarian law, the establishment of humanitarian corridors, evacuation initiatives from the Gaza Strip, and the release of hostages. The minister also briefed the Arab ambassadors on the actions undertaken by our nation within the UN Security Council to quell the violence and shift the situation towards a diplomatic and political resolution," stated the ministry.

 

The Russian side also underscored the importance of bolstering global initiatives to establish an environment conducive to the reinitiation of a comprehensive peace process in the Middle East.

 

In response, the representatives of the Arab diplomatic corps expressed their appreciation for Russia's endeavors to swiftly de-escalate the situation in the conflict zone and deliver humanitarian aid to the people of the Gaza Strip. The foreign ministry emphasized the rejection of the politicization of efforts concerning this matter within the UN Security Council and the confrontational stance adopted by certain Western nations on this issue.
