Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has called on countries from the global South to boycott the upcoming Swiss conference on Ukraine scheduled for June 15-16. Lavrov's remarks were part of a broader discussion on the Ukrainian crisis during a round table at the Diplomatic Academy, as reported by the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Lavrov emphasized that the current geopolitical confrontation has taken on a global dimension, with the West attempting to involve nations from the global South in its efforts to isolate Russia. He urged these countries not to succumb to the pressure exerted by the United States and its allies, suggesting they refuse participation in the so-called "peace summit" in Switzerland.
According to Lavrov, the true aim of the Swiss event is not to explore solutions for the Ukrainian conflict but to present Russia with an ultimatum that he described as unacceptable. He warned that the summit's intention is more about coercion than genuine peacemaking efforts.
