Mishustin Confirms Russia's Cooperation with Kazakhstan

At a meeting with Kazakhstan's new Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin reaffirmed Russia's readiness to develop fraternal relations with Kazakhstan. Mishustin conveyed greetings from Russian President Vladimir Putin to Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and congratulated Bektenov on his appointment as head of the government.

 

"It is important for us that you start your first foreign visit with a visit to the Russian Federation, which fully reflects the nature of special relations between Russia and Kazakhstan, these relations are fraternal," Mishustin addressed his Kazakh counterpart. He confirmed his readiness to work constructively with Bektenov on the entire substantive agenda of their cooperation.

 

Mishustin emphasized the importance of strengthening good-neighborly and allied relations with Kazakhstan, "based on mutual respect, trust, strategic partnership, and historical friendship." He highlighted the main task of prime ministers to ensure that all decisions are taken to fulfill the agreements of the presidents of the two countries.

 

 

The Russian prime minister drew attention to the active strengthening of interregional cooperation, noting that "most subjects of the Russian Federation maintain direct friendly, business, and humanitarian ties with the regions of Kazakhstan." He mentioned the successful operation of branches of Russian higher educational institutions in Kazakhstan and the significant number of Kazakh students studying in Russia, including an additional 200 places allocated for Kazakh citizens in Russian universities in the current academic year.

 

Mishustin thanked the leadership of Kazakhstan for its "attentive attitude to the Russian language, as the language of interethnic communication, helping to establish contacts between people."

 

"There is a fruitful cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan in the Eurasian Economic Union. We support deepening integration processes to develop national economies and improve the welfare of citizens," the Russian PM concluded.
