After the Russian Central Election Commission (CEC) declined to register beauty blogger Rada Russkikh, only four candidates remain in the race for the Russian presidency: LDPR leader Leonid Slutsky, CPRF member Nikolai Kharitonov, incumbent President Vladimir Putin, and New People party member Vladislav Davankov.
Earlier, the CEC had also rejected registrations for Sergei Malinkovich (Communists of Russia) and Boris Nadezhdin (Civil Initiative). The successful candidates have now completed the registration stage, which concludes on February 10.
Russkikh submitted her registration documents to the CEC on January 31, along with three boxes containing 476 signatures, which fell short of the required 300,000. Additionally, she did not provide documentation confirming the payment for signature sheet production or a list of individuals who collected the signatures.
In response to the CEC's decisions, Presidential Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated that the commission adhered to the rules established for all candidates.
