Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed that while Israel has faced attacks, a settlement to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict can only be achieved through the establishment of an independent Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital. He emphasized that Russia is committed to the irreversibility of a negotiated solution to this conflict during the CIS summit.
"Their objective should be the implementation of the United Nations' two-state formula, which entails the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, coexisting in peace and security with Israel. We acknowledge that Israel has faced an attack and has the right to ensure its peaceful existence," Putin stated. He emphasized the importance of resolving this issue through peaceful means and concluded that, in this context, there seems to be no alternative to two independent states.
