Putin Arrives in Beijing for a Two-Day Visit

Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in China at the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping and is scheduled for a two-day stay in Beijing on October 17 and 18.

 

During his visit, Putin will have a packed agenda. On the first day of his visit, he will primarily focus on bilateral meetings with fellow leaders participating in the Third International Belt and Road Forum. These meetings will include discussions with Vietnamese President Vo Van Thuong, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand Srettha Thavisin, Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, and President of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Thongloun Sisoulith.

 

Furthermore, on Tuesday, Putin will participate in the official reception ceremony, hosted by Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan, for the heads of delegations attending the Belt and Road forum.

 

The central events of the forum are slated to occur on October 18 at the People's Assembly House on Tiananmen Square, including Putin's attendance at the opening ceremony. On the same day, there will be Russian-Chinese talks, followed by a series of bilateral meetings for Putin during the forum. One of these meetings is scheduled with Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, the head of the transitional government and Prime Minister of Pakistan.

 

At the conclusion of his visit to China, Putin will meet with Russian journalists to provide an overview of the trip's outcomes.
