25 December 2023

Russian President Vladimir Putin has issued a decree awarding the Order of Friendship to Ahmed al-Saati, head of the diplomatic mission of Bahrain, as confirmed by the Embassy of Bahrain in Moscow to TASS. According to the diplomatic mission, "President Vladimir Putin honored the ambassador of Bahrain and awarded him with the Order of Friendship." The decree highlighted that the order was bestowed "for the great contribution to the development of bilateral cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Russian Federation in various areas."

In reflecting on the progress made, the embassy emphasized an eight-year qualitative leap in Russian-Bahraini relations, particularly with the Arab states of the Persian Gulf. The culmination of this development was underscored by three visits from Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to Russia, leading to an agreement for a qualitative shift in various fields between the two countries. The embassy pointed out, "Many Russian experts and diplomats working in the Russian Foreign Ministry and the Russian presidential administration believe that the credit for this development of relations between the Russian and Bahraini sides belongs to Ambassador Ahmed al-Saati, who began his work in Moscow in the summer of 2015." Additionally, the embassy noted that the diplomat "effectively contributed to the transfer of relations between Moscow and Manama to a much higher level than they were before in the political, economic, social, and cultural spheres."
