In his greeting to the participants and guests of the Primakov Readings international forum, Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized that the model of globalization, largely shaped by Western countries in their own interests, has outlived its usefulness and is now in a deep crisis. He noted the establishment of a new, fairer system of international relations.
"The theme of this year's forum, 'Post-Globalization Horizons,' is highly pertinent. It is evident that the model of globalization, largely shaped by Western countries in their own interests, has naturally outlived itself and is currently in a deep crisis. A new, more equitable, and democratic system of international relations that aligns with the needs of the global majority is in the process of being established," stated the president in his greeting published on the Kremlin's website.
However, Putin pointed out that a "well-known group of countries," accustomed to dominating the world, resorts to extreme measures to uphold its diminishing influence, employing outright blackmail and forceful pressure. This group is substituting the established system of international law with a so-called "rule-based order." The Russian president emphasized that such a destabilizing approach has led to both the crisis situation around Ukraine and the tragic escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
He observed that the international expert forum Primakov Readings, named after the esteemed statesman and diplomat Academician Yevgeny Maximovich Primakov, has rightfully garnered widespread recognition. "In the course of constructive and open discussions, participants not only conduct in-depth analyses of today's critical international issues but also explore long-term trends in the development of situations at regional and global levels. This is done based on a systematic, scientific approach, and objective facts," reads Putin's greeting.
"Given the current highly complex and turbulent international situation, participants in the Primakov Readings have much to ponder, discuss, and debate," remarked the head of state. He extended his wishes for success and all the best to the participants of the forum.
