Russia Collaborates with Arab Countries to Rebuild Syria

13 February

Russia is actively collaborating with Arab countries to facilitate the reconstruction of Syria, following the nation's reinstatement to the Arab League, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said during the XIII Middle East Conference of the Valdai Club.

"We have previously discussed the framework that facilitates the reconciliation between Syria and Turkey, which includes Syria, Turkey, Russia, and Iran. As Syria has rejoined the Arab League, we are urging Arab nations to engage more actively in the rebuilding process of the Syrian Arab Republic," Lavrov stated.

The foreign minister reiterated the effectiveness of the Astana format for resolving the Syrian crisis. "By the end of January, we have conducted  21 consecutive meetings in Astana. The collective efforts of the Astana troika—Russia, Iran, and Turkey—supported by observer states such as Iraq, Lebanon, and Jordan, have been instrumental. Their observational role significantly enhances our combined endeavors," Lavrov added.

Prior to this, Aibek Smadiarov, spokesperson for the Kazakh Foreign Ministry, informed journalists that the subsequent discussions on Syria under the Astana format would take place in Astana on January  24-25.
