Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov held discussions with Egyptian Ambassador to Moscow Nazih el Nagari regarding cooperation within BRICS and arms control matters, as stated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

"The conversation primarily focused on collaboration within BRICS, particularly in light of Russia's presidency in the association in 2024," the ministry noted.

In a separate meeting, Russian Presidential Special Envoy for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov engaged with the Egyptian ambassador. The discussions delved into Middle Eastern matters, including the situation in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone, as well as developments in Libya and Sudan. The diplomats also underscored the significance of maintaining active political dialogue within the framework of Russian-Egyptian multifaceted cooperation.

Russia assumed the chairmanship of BRICS on January 1, 2024, with responsibilities extending until the year's end, featuring over 200 events covering a wide array of topics. The highlight of the chairmanship will be the BRICS summit scheduled for October 2024 in Kazan. Egypt's recent inclusion in the association adds a new dimension to its activities.
