The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) has announced that its next summit will take place on July 3-4 in Astana, Bakhtiyer Khakimov, the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation on SCO affairs, said during a briefing.

"The preparatory work for the upcoming summit, which will be attended by the heads of state of the SCO member states, is nearing completion," Khakimov stated.

The representative added that the team is currently finalizing the content of the summit, including the formulation of proposals that will be submitted for approval by foreign ministers before being considered by the heads of state.

Khakimov revealed that the preliminary list of documents to be considered by the heads of state already includes approximately 30 items. "One of the most significant documents is a proposal from the Council of Foreign Ministers aimed at enhancing the SCO. This proposal outlines a range of measures designed to improve the effectiveness of the organization's standing bodies and to reform its interactions with dialogue partners and observers and emphasizes the importance of strengthening efforts to counter challenges and threats, including terrorism, extremism, separatism, and drug trafficking," Khakimov concluded.
