Today, on May 25 state and public figures from 30 Middle East countries have arrived to Kazan, together with Russian experts they will take part in the meeting of Group of strategic vision “Russia – Islamic world.”
Among the delegates of the Group’s meeting there are prominent political and public figures, influential clerics and religious leaders, as well as ex-heads of state and business.
Russia at the meeting of the Group will be present, in particular, by Mikhail Bogdanov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Special Representative of the Russian President for the Middle East, Konstantin Shuvalov, Ambassador of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Veniamin Popov, director of the Center for Partnership of Civilizations MGIMO and the coordinator of Group of strategic vision, Ravil Hazrat Gaynutdin, the chairman of the Council of Muftis of Russia and others.
The agenda is the discussion and search for solutions to the most pressing problems of international relations, in particular in the fight against terrorism.
The working part of the meeting will last three days (until May 28).
The main focus at the meeting of the Group, which is headed by President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov according to the order of Russian President Vladimir Putin, this year will be on the formation among the foreign visitors an objective opinion about Russia, its multicultural society, demonstrating on the example of Tatarstan vast experience of conservation of intercultural and interfaith relations.
Within the framework of the visit to Tatarstan by the participants of Group of strategic vision they will visit the spiritual capital of Muslims of Russia – the city of Bulgaria, in which the working meeting with participation of RT State Councilor M. Sh Shaimiev will be held. In Kazan City Hall a plenary session will be held, headed by the President of the Republic of Tatarstan R.N. Minnikhanov, final resolution will be adopted as a result of this session. On the last day of work of Group of strategic vision, delegates will be able to take part in the Tatar national holiday Sabantuy.
